Watch The Time Fly By

1 09 2007

googleearth_flight_simulator_2png.png

As you might have heard Google recently released a new version of Google Earth. This new version adds realistic skies as well as an overall smoother user experience. But here’s something that really takes the cake: Google Earth Flight Simulator! I won’t explain too much about it, you should just go get the new version and try it out. For more info, check out Marco Gallotta’s blog post, where he talks about some of the neat things you can do. Great, now I have just another reason to procrastinate. The time is just gonna fly by now, no pun intended.

Apple Event on Sept. 5th

31 08 2007

Apple Logo It’s official, there will be an Apple Special event on September 5th. many believe this will only have to do with iPod and the iTunes store. We all know very well that Steve loves to release iPods this time of year, and they are due for an update anyway. It will be held on the Apple Campus, probably in the same place where they released the new iMac on August 7th. The show starts at 10AM Pacific time so 1PM on the East Coast. I’m pumped. Gizmodo and Engagdet will be there live blogging the event. so get your refresh button ready, and try and hold in your excitement.-Evan Doyle

Watch the Boston Apple Store Rise

31 08 2007

Apple Boston Store I don’t know if all of you Apple fans out there know about the Apple Store that is being constructed on Newbury St. If you don’t, your missing out. This new Apple Store is going to be 2-3 stories and has a wonderful location on a street that is known for shopping. Construction on this store has been going on for quite a while, since February 2007. Well now the exciting part has come and the steel beams have been going up rapidly over the last week  or so. there is a live web-cam on the construction of the store. You can view that life web cam and blog here. But every once and a while the people in charge of the web-cam and blog will post time lapse movies of certain things. This is a time lapse movie of about 10 days and shows all the steel being put into place. It is pretty cool to watch how fast a structure can be built, and even one that we will all love and cherish because of the Apple Logo above the door.-Evan Doyle

What’s the Deal With the Apple Wireless Keyboard?

25 08 2007

Well, I am sure all of you have seen the unboxing pictures of the Apple Keyboard, but the only keyboard you have seen is the wired one. If you love the style and design of all the Pro computers and you also love the feel of the Macbook’s keyboard, this is the right keyboard for you.  So, where is that wireless one? As of today, after the Apple Store has just been updated, the Apple Wireless Keyboard is shipping in 3-4 weeks (changed from 4-6 as of 8/23/07). This 79 dollar piece of shiny metal is an item that I have been craving. I mean who actually used number pads? -Evan Doyle

This week it is a picture I took today in York, Maine. The name of the Lighthouse is Nubble Lighthouse, and is probably the most photographed lighthouse on the East Coast. -Evan Doyle

Mad Money? I think so…

21 08 2007

Jim Kramer, the host of the popular MSNBC TV show “Mad Money” freaks out a few days ago during a guest spot on a news segment. Describing issues with the fed and the down markets, he gets intense and starts screaming. He’s usually an intense guy, but he really wins the award for one of the best freak outs i’ve seen yet on television. Definitely worth checking out, even if you’re not into finance news or the stock market.

Inmates Won’t Leave: Prison Food Too Good

5 07 2007

Here’s one for the record books. Inmates of an Indian prison have refused to apply for bail because the food is just “so good.” The prison, Parappana Agrahara in Banglore is crowded to more than capacity, but the inmates are just enjoying their time too much. Criminals in jail won’t apply for bail to get out while younger offenders are lying about their age just to get in. The Bangalore Mirror, a local newspaper in the jail’s area is reporting that healthy and definitely tasty food is currently being served by ISKCON, a Hindu evangelist organization. They took over the prison’s food service department and have been under contract to supply food for prisoners since May. Lunch and dinner typically include steaming hot rice, vegetables and a spicy lentil dish known as sambar and buttermilk. They even serve dessert on festival days and national holidays. One prisoner, Raja Reddy, who has been arrested 20 times in the past 30 years for theft, robbery and burglary said, “When we are getting tasty nutritious food three times a day here, why should we go out and commit crimes.”

Apple Launches DRM-free Music and Kickstarts the AppleTV

31 05 2007

+

Today, also at the Wall Street Journal’s D conference, Steve Jobs led us on a magical journey of New Balance shoes and black turtle-neck shirts. Steve announced in a sit down interview about the iTunes Plus store and the upgrades to the AppleTV. Firstly, Steve pointed out the addition to the iTunes store, iTunes Plus. The newly added DRM-free music is $1.29 a download and your preexisting music that is now available for DRM-free can be upgraded with a 30 cent rate per song. Secondly, Steve talked about AppleTV’s new pal, YouTube. Start mid-June with an update you will now be able to go on YouTube with the AppleTV. So now you can broadcast yourself over your AppleTV. Also starting tomorrow, May 31st, there will be a new AppleTV option. Now you will be able to choose form the 40Gb version for $299, or the 160Gb version for $399. That is 4x the hard disk space for just $100. -Evan Doyle

Microsoft’s Surface Computer

30 05 2007

Today at the Wall Street Journal’s D conference (D stands for Digital). Microsoft unveiled their very new and very interesting surface computer. I believe that this is a major step forward in the advancement of the User Interface. To fully understand this prototype you just need to watch this 18 minute video that is all about the Surface Computer. I know it is 18 minutes, but when i saw that i thought the same thing as you “I’m going to fall asleep.” Amazingly this product interested me so much i had to find out even more about it AFTER the 18 minute video. the most surprising thing about this product is that we will be seeing ‘them’ in retail stores, restaurants, casinos, and resorts by the end of ‘07. -Evan Doyle
